In this week's training, we are talking about how to become a better leader.
In business, and in life, many times it's easy to become a manager.... a person that is able to take a blob of stuff and make sure that it is managed and accomplished.
But in all of that doing, and hustle, and bustle, we sometimes miss a little bit of the essence of why it is that we're doing what we're doing. Where are we going? In what direction are we heading.. and, not only for ourselves but also for the people that's around us in the business and in our families.
And that's when leadership comes in.
I love the topic of leadership because I was in the Marine Corps for nearly 20 years.
I started out my life in the Marines as an E-1 Private First Class, which is the lowest rank you can come in to the Service. I was initially an aircraft mechanic, fixing airplanes for several years.
I worked my way up to a certain point where I had an opportunity to fulfill a bigger dream I had to become a fighter pilot....
In this week's training we’re talking about how to influence your market.
If you’re not familiar with our story, we've been doing digital marketing, small business coaching, and consulting for a few years now. In this episode we want to share with you our lessons learned from launching a new brand, launching a couple of new podcasts, and how we’re doing it all while serving our clients and our community.
So today we want to talk about how to influence your market.
You’ve probably heard before from people like Tony Robbins, Brendon Burchard, Chalene Johnson say something like, “Hey, what business are you in?”
This is a question they ask their students often... “What business are you in?” You might answer with something like, “Well, I am a real estate broker,” or “I'm a fitness instructor,” or “I'm in promotional items.” Whatever it is you do, that's what you would say. Right? Well, of course.
It's great to be with you once again on this episode. Today we're going to talk about why is it better to procrastinate and yes, I'm being completely serious about this. I want to talk about this topic because it is something I never thought would be coming out of my mouth. I'm usually the action guy, the one who wants to get things done and drive and go forward and accomplish great things.
But I've learned quite a bit since launching our new brand, and our new video and audio podcasts, and I wanted to share with you a little bit of a post-launch update on how things are going and what lessons learned I can impart onto you so you can make things better in your business.
I didn't want to keep the secrets all to myself because what good is that, right? Karma baby…you have to circulate what you know to make sure everyone learns, and we are all able to increase our level of consciousness at the same time.
So it's been several years now where I have been attending multiple...
So for this training, I wanted to bring a topic to you, which has been on my mind for a while now. The energy of the world has gone “flat-lined.” There are lots of people out there living through caffeine, or through those energy drinks, or anything else that they can do to get themselves motivated, get themselves pumped to do the next thing. It's a little alarming…
Somehow we are not able to just have natural energy, or natural buoyancy, to go about our day and make our impact and generate the income that we need to sustain ourselves and to sustain our businesses.
So today I wanted to chat with you a little bit about how do we find the internal fire; how do we find the internal passion to move forward and do the things that we want to do.
Today we’re talking about how to reach your dreams.
So I got here today after having served in the Marine Corps for nearly 20 years as an F-18 fighter pilot, among other things. I got here just like everyone else…...
I’m often asked, "Leo why do I need to write a book? I mean, I get it, it’s the latest craze and it’s become super easy to do so, but still .. why me and why now?"
Well, the reason is very simple. Positioning.
Positioning is a part of marketing strategy that aims at making a brand occupy a distinct position, relative to competing brands, in the mind of the customer.
Companies apply positioning strategies either by emphasizing the distinguishing features of their brand (for example, what is it you do, how you do it and why) or they may try to create a suitable perception through visual, sensory, and verbal messaging through advertising in the mind of the customer.
The aim is to create a desired perception by creating an image of either being premium, inexpensive, utilitarian, luxurious, entry-level or high-end in the mind of our intended audience.
Why do we need a marketing funnel? First I want to invite you into my brain and give you some perspective on how I think about this. OK, so I’m a big branding snob, huge branding proponent. And by branding I mean actually taking the time, and dollars, to work with a consultant or a firm that truly knows what they’re doing.
This is serious work, and there are not many of these folks in the entrepreneurial or small business world that truly love the art and science of branding. Why do I tell you this? I believe good branding shortens your sales cycle. Yes, good branding will create a perception in your prospects and consumers senses that will incite an emotion and will move them to action, whether the action is to engage with you and purchase your products or go away immediately.
Good branding speaks for you, and exceptionally good branding polarizes; it takes the incorrect prospect away from you, which is good for business because we don’t want to deal...
I hear quite often: Leo, please help me create or expand my platform, or my storefront for that matter. to which I say, ok. how do you envision this happening for yourself or your business? And then I hear, well I don’t know, maybe producing a podcast, or launching a webinar, or publishing a book, or creating a new clothing line, or whatever it is people do to create or expand their platform… and I say, ok.
No worries. So who is this solution for? And I get crickets. The silence is unbearable, then I hear words, just words. no coherence. just words… and that’s ok because that’s exactly where I want this person to be. This is a good place. Crickets are good.
You know why? Because it’s a really good sign that I get to help someone do it correctly. Is a chance to save one business owner from rework and frustration. So thinking back to the original predicament early in the example, did you notice what the common...
Ok here we go, so today we have a question from Amanda in Minneapolis. She writes, "Hi Leo, I'm just starting an internship at a swanky advertising agency here in the Twin Cities. I just left high school and my peer group don’t care much for Facebook. However, I know it is an important social media platform that I should be on as I move into the real world away from school and I want to make sure I do it right. Please help.
What a perrrrfect question Amanda! You know why? You are the farthest away as you could possibly get from Debbie, our show avatar here at Reach Millions Online™. However, you have just asked me a question central to one of the keys for success in social media. How to use Facebook pages correctly. And hey, this question may cause me some flack with our listeners Amanda, but in my consulting experience these past couple of years, I think it’s worth dedicating a teeny short episode to setting the...
I’m often asked, “Leo, what is small business automation?"
And you know, I think that is a great question. You know what would be an even better question that what is small business automation? A better question would be, What Is Small Business Automation, NOT? You know, I like this question even better because it automatically makes me use the left side of my brain more than my right. So, in general it gives me a headache right away, you know…
No, but seriously; when someone makes us think of what an object is NOT, or what an idea is NOT, we immediately engage a different part of our brains that allow us to see things more logically, therefore most other non-sense that might creep up when we otherwise give our opinion, is stripped down to factual commentary when we try to pinpoint in our minds what something is not.
What’s my point? The B.S. is mostly all removed from our public comments when someone asks you what small business...
I’m often asked, “Leo, what is a marketing funnel?"
My answer is always the same: a marketing funnel is nothing more than a way to help people in a way they want to be helped. Simple as that. So, let me ask you a question: would you propose marriage on a very first date? If you do, please call me.. I wanna hear this! Nah, seriously .. I don’t know of many people that would. Well, that’s exactly what countless other online business owners try to do to their customers, and I’ve seen it happen even in the brick and mortar community .. they try to get married on their first date, so to speak.
What do I mean by that? ok so, offering a product to a visitor for $97 from the get-go, without any warming them up to you, is not smart. It’s actually the opposite of that because it is quite off-putting in today’s marketplace to be slammed with an offer perceived as insensible when there's no connection established yet.
As always, there...
